A
Virtual Assistant, or "VA" is an independent
contractor that provides his/her services and expertise out of his/her
own office. A client can be located in another city, state or even in
a different country. However, since communication is handled via internet,
telephone, fax, or mail, the VA can still assist his/her clients virtually
without having to actually be within the clients' office. Information
can be easily transferred between the virtual assistant and client.
There
are various reasons why hiring a VA can be beneficial to you and your
company. When you hire a VA, you do not have to pay benefits: health
insurance, vacation/sick/holiday pay, or social security and medicare
taxes.
In
addition, when you hire new employees, they require office space, office
furniture and office equipment (office supplies, computer, hardware,
software, printers, 'phone). VA's have their own equipment, so you do
not need to supply those things which result in the business saving
more money.
When
you hire a VA, you are only paying for the time and materials spent
on the project. Whereas, in hiring an employee, you unfortunately pay
for coffee breaks, extended lunches, personal telephone calls, or "surfing"
the internet.
A client can also benefit from a VA because there is minimal time spent
on training them. This also enables the client to stay on schedule.
